Do not feel you are not ready!

Nowadays, we are surrounded by superfluous messages and notifications day in and day out. It seems everyone around me is having the time of their lives.

I don’t know about you, but when I launch my Instagram app, I see pictures of my friend having parties, showing off new toys they just bought and a certificate of some sort from an online university I never heard of.

One of the side effects of experiencing such an overwhelmed situation is you started to doubt your actions compulsively, dwell on the past, and have a self-reflection of some sort. It then raises a disturbing question in your head repeatedly — why the hell am I the only one among my friends who don’t enjoy their lives? After about 15 minutes later, you decided to make some significant changes in your life.

Raise your hand if this ever happened to you, and raise your hand if you end up didn’t do anything about it besides speculating.

Why didn’t we do it? For the past couple of weeks, I have been collecting answers to this very question from people around me, and one of the most popular explanations is people think they are not ready to take any tangible actions at this stage of their lives.

For example, Carrie dreams about to open a bakery and shares some of her most beloved cookies and cupcakes with the world. However, She keeps telling me that this is still just a dream, and there are many insurmountable obstacles she has to conquer before she can finally make her move, in other words, she is not ready yet.

She wants to do it and is waiting for the right time. But you know what, there will be no right time to stop what you are doing now and start your own business, there will always be things that may concern you, which lead to procrastination.

No one will be 100% ready. Even the Olympian who is about to enter the stadium is not. This not-ready mentality keeps our mind engaged with whatever we are about to do, and it keeps pushing us to get better and sharper; however, it shouldn’t stop you from acting on it.

It’s perfectly normal to feel you are not ready; but you still have to act on it, because the only way to get ready is by doing it.
